Gathering with Eileen Chong

Yesterday went to meet my former MMU tutor Ms.Eileen. *UAE stewardess now
She just flight back malaysia from Abu Dhabi, and have a gathering at Kim Gary, Sg.Wang.

MMU supplementary exam need to paid?!

多媒体大学要征收补考费?!

The President said, the Board of Directors (if I not mistaken) had already agreed to impose a charge to those who are taking supplementary examination. When ? Effective immediately. Means, who ever fail in any subject, for this trimester final examination, in general they are going to take supplementary examination for the next trimester. When they take it, means, they must pay. The method of payment, either before or after supplementary im not sure. Most probably, I do think its lump sum together with other fees on the same trimester as the supplementary examination.

How much the students have to pay ? As far as I know, it is 30 % of the fees per subject. For example, if the fee of "Engineering Mathematics 1" is RM 700, then 30 % means the student have to pay additional of RM 210, which will be creditted in their fees, if they take supplementary examination. Of course they can choose not to take it, but yet, they fail and have to retake the subject again. Retake means, pay the full fees again. Im sure that the MMU will make announcement about this soon.

I'm not sure this news is real or not. but it seem like 80% look like real.
Unless MMU make announcement on bulletin then that time sure many student &%$#%$#^%$#^%&^^%.

Oh right,
here come my point of doing this header "One upon a time... "
this post will be talking about from the day i first step into MMU...

December, 2003

Actually before alpha i already went into MMU and study around 1 month in MMU melaka already. Right after SPM on Nov 2003, my parents register a course call EEP ( Early Entrance Program) at MMU.
At first, i thought is just a english course for us to familiar with the subject before we going into university life.
But actually that was a pre-preparation for studying in MMU. we learned some MMU subject like Probability, Reseach Skill, Cyberpreneurship , Multimedia www and Creative English Quest.

Anyway, i really learn a lot from there.
the 1st time get to know others state friends.
the 1st time study in University.
the 1st time dancing on the street.
the 1st time lead my own dragon dance team.
the 1st time sitting on the road chitchat with friend overnight.
the 1st time studying,playing,lepaking,mix along with others races friend.
the 1st time playing CS with friend in their hostel. ( EP)
the 1st time etc etc...

of cause there are still a lot of first time for me.

最新劲爆消息！大马电讯公司极可能放弃多媒体大学！据马电讯公司，他们想通过职员的贷款及售卖与电讯没有直接关系的公司资产。当中就包括了搞教育的多媒体 大学。他们打算通过这样的新理财政策为公司“解冻”14亿令吉(RM1.4 billion)！至于单单放弃多媒体大学可以为公司节省下8千万至9千万令吉 (RM800 million to RM900million)。对于职员贷款事项，马电讯高层保持乐观的态度。至于要寻找大学的收购者就有一点头痛。这不是一个全新的政策，马电讯之前已经 采取了节制政策。主要就是斩除所有不是生意利润主要来源的资产。可以看见的就是之前将整个马电讯塔售卖予ABS Berhad。

节省下来的钱主要就是想大力注入一个提升上网及伺服中心的巨型计划，high-speed broadband (HSBB)！马电讯的新目标就是进军电线电视市场。主要是模仿美国第二大型的internet service provider公司的发展趋势。这公司主要是提供电子游戏、电子手提仪器e时代用品。

若马电讯真的放弃了多媒体大学，相信这所大学的发展肯定会大大的受影响。第一就是在资金方面就成了一个问题。一个这么大的靠山放弃了多媒体大学，以 后的路肯定更加的难走。而最近闹到全院校的IT fees 风波也许就是因为这个内幕消息早前已经传到多媒体大学高层。这是为以后铺路吗？还是只是暂时应急？多媒体大学还可以向以往这么风光，继续被称为数一数二的 私立大学吗？希望这些高层的安排不会影响到学术上的发展咯~哎

TM plans to raise RM1.4b: Morgan Stanley

TELEKOM Malaysia Bhd (TM), the country's dominant phone company, plans to raise as much as RM1.4 billion from the sale of its staff loans and non-core assets, Morgan Stanley said in a report.

"The disposal of staff loans from the group's books could free up RM500 million, and the Multimedia University disposal could unlock another RM800 million to RM900 million," wrote Navin Killa and Gary Yu in the report after meeting the management last month.

Based on TM's 2007 annual report, its staff loans amounted to RM509 million, with a yearly interest of about four per cent.

"While management remains optimistic on the disposal of staff loans, the group is struggling to find a buyer for the university," the duo noted.

The non-core asset sale, if it does take place, will be the second time this year the company has sold assets to raise fresh capital.

In January, TM raised some RM1 billion by selling Mena-ra TM, Menara Celcom, TM Cyberjaya Complex and Wisma TM (Taman Desa) to Menara ABS Bhd.

TM will need between RM1 billion and RM1.5 billion a year to fund its high-speed broadband (HSBB) project.

A senior government official who spoke to Business Times on condition of anonymity said that the HSBB project is intact and an agreement is scheduled to be signed this month.

The agreement between TM and the government, which was earlier scheduled to be signed this week, was postponed.

Energy, Water and Communications Minister Datuk Shaziman Abu Mansor was to represent the government at the signing.

UBS Investment Research, in a Monday report, said that some of the capital expenditure by TM might be replaced by investments into the project.

"We expect further clarity on HSBB over these two months to alleviate investor concerns," wrote Shirley Tse in a report.

The HSBB project allows TM to use its fibre optic network to beam broadband connections speedier than what is being offered by wireless network providers, as well as provide cable television connections.

It is understood that TM is looking to provide cable TV facilities similiar to that of the US' second largest internet service provider, Comcast Corp's G4 station that focuses on games, gears, gadgets and gigabytes.

Finally we went for paint ball before everyone leave MMU. Yesterday we went to Putrajaya Paint Ball Park to play. it only 10mins from Alamanda putrajaya only. The park might be ulu abit but it already fulfill all the paintball place d. they got 3 location (mean map in cs) , u can choose which location u would like to play. 1st, the normal 1 with all the tongs there , 2nd one is which some boxes and trees for u to cover yourself 1 and the 3rd location is at the Palm tree there 1. we decided to play the 2nd location because it seem like a bit more "jungle feel"!

Too bad my team, MU team lost with 2 - 1 to liverpool team. This is because MU dun hav much player here, and chelsea fans is in our team somemore. sure hard to win d like this. haha

and we did a hugo celebration for hugo while at the end of paintball. We split to 3 group and each group vs hugo alone. so he need to vs each 3 groups until we run out of bullet. Ohya, forget to mention we everyone each person only got around 10 bullets. hugo got around 100 bullets. so actually we are not bullying him okay~! Anyway, happy birthday hugo lim! thank me for organize the paintball on ur birthday lo! unforgettable gift right?! LOL

This trimester taking 5 subject + FYP

TMS2091 - Multimedia Information Systems And Management

i failed this subject once last 2 year so take again this trimester with Keat Meng and Jessica. Thought will be the same lecturer last time but MMU change the coordinator of this subject. and dunno is good or bad the lecture is my currently FYP moderator as well. So, guess what i need to attend her every class and be a good student infront of her. ( for the sake of FYP presentation next time) Lecture is quite bored from me cause almost theory everything. ERP, DSS, MIS etc. etc. Sorry no interest from me.

Assignments:
Assignment 1: Interim Report, Report #1, Report#2 and Final Report.
Submission : 4 Reports mean 4 time submission date. Now left Final Report due on 25th April.
Groups with KeatMeng and jessica of course. No problem since we did group for assignment before but Jessica seem like hate the lecturer so much so she kinda emo sometime in class.
Problem: Kinda troublesome because the lecturer expected much on us. Even need us to discuss via Internet/Blog.


TAR3111 - Rendering And Animation

Rendering and Animation teach by Angeline XXX. Can said pretty if compare with those "Wantan" lecturer here. But she not that well teaching in class. Everyone were skipped her class. Lab section even worst. She didn't really teach or show us about the coding. So that mean, Assignment all need to settle sendiri. Midterm: Currently marks haven release but for sure i cant pass since i just ans 1 question others all blank. sad case.

Project: Submission on 8th April ( few hours later)
Group with Alfred. Feel guilty and sorry for him because due to others assignment and FYP i didn't really put my afford on this assignment. Almost done by him.
Problem: Cant do the Texture part because She never teach us well in lab so everyone was headache about that. Plus, the God-Damn OpenGL ain't easy at all seriously.


TDA2411 - Digital Audio And Speech Programming

This Subject i shall took last year but due to i failed others subject last time so this subject had been extended to this sem only can take. And another reason i took this subject this sem cause Jillian, Hugo and my housemate Voonfei also took this subject so i thought it easy for us to group if they are any assignment later.
Lecturer section? bored. Unless u interest which about Speech. It's all about the speech like prosody, vowel, formant, phoneme etc etc. U interest? Nah, not for me please.
Midterm? result haven out yet but never expect much from me.

Assignment 1 and 2.
Assignment 1 group with jillian. Done and submit last few week ago but it only 10 marks.
Assignment 2, doing individual. duedate: 21st April.
Problem: Assignment Grouping. Been sudden sabotage by someone and get no group to group with at last. Get disappointed not because of the assignment but about the friendship and don't understand why the fella wanna did this to me. Thanks for increase my stress while i need to prepare for my FYP. mlm


TMD3041 - Multimedia Database Systems

Another bored subject for me. This subject is all about all the Multimedia database. how the video or image extract into the database. A "Don't like" from me coz i dun like study Unrealitic thing. I can't imagine these kind of thing. Bryan's brain: "SORRY! NO ENTRY!"

Assignment:
Assignment 1 and 2.
Both assignments groups with Waiseng and Kenny. No group member problem since we did group for others subject assignment before.
Assignment 1 done but need to presentation few hours more later.
Assignment 2 haven start yet. due date on 28th April. Currently plan to do after FYP submission.
Problem: Don't understand at all what we did on Assignment 1. All search from Internet.


TVR3101 - Virtual Reality

The most i preferred subject. Is just about doing the 3D Graphics. Different with Rendering And Animation subject cause this subject never use OpenGL. It use VRML and Java. I like designing subject. =)

Assignment:
Assignment 1 and Project. Assignment 1 did individual. Done and get 9/10. i'm satisfy with that.
Project, haven start yet since the duedate is on 2nd May. So, just settle the FYP 1st.
Problem: Java coding? still don't know yet since i haven start.


TPR3321 - Final Year Project

Finally come to the BIG subject. Since i said is BIG so that mean this subject is super important. it took us 6 credit hours. 1 credit hour = around RM250. 6 hours mean? more than RM1K. that's the money matter. CGPA is another BIG reason as well, since it's 6 CH so that's mean this FYP result will totally effect your CGPA in the end. So, isn't it BIG ?

Duedate: Submission on 24th April ( 2 weeks more)
Progress: 30% ? don't really think so.
Problem: Flash scripting. Don't really understand well about the Flash action script. Super stress now since it left 2 week only for me. Somebody can help me about Flash? T__T

2nd september 2007 is my 21st birthday
others than that, putrajaya will having their fireworks competition grand finale.
i was able to reach cyberjaya on that day so decide to go watch the superb fireworks with my frens jessica, steven , keat meng, vian-popo, kaiseen-muimui, vianLG-cstan and xuan. some of them came from melacca purposely to watch the fireworks here.

the fireworks is awesome. but i still think that lose to the previous one i watch. after watch the fireworks then going to have my dinner at oldtown cafe. the traffic in putrajaya was totally complex, jam for almost 1 hour there.

the next day, we went ikano to have our lunch and singK at the redbox there. today waiseng came to join us. we wait only 3pm only got room to let us enjoy the K. at least everyone was kinda shy and not dare to hold the mic ( except xuan =p ) maybe some of them dunno each others yet. but a while more, everyone also sing their song. Connie and weijun came to meet us for a while also. i was kinda no mood that day so din really sing alots.
